Why we exist

Between the one-person shop and the giant MSP.

Small IT shops are often one or two people with no documentation, no standard tools, and no backup when their technician is out. Large MSPs add account managers, ticket tiers, and slow escalation, and the people fixing your problems never learn your business.

We built BMIT to sit in between: the process, tooling, and security of a much larger provider, with engineers and leadership you can actually reach.

How we work

Eight things every client gets.

Engineers answer

A named engineer who knows your setup replies, with a median email first response of 12 minutes.

One standard stack

The same monitoring, security, and configuration standards at every client.

Everything documented

Your environment is written down, so any engineer can pick up any client.

Monitoring around the clock

Monitoring and managed detection and response run on every managed device, day and night.

Security in the base plan

Endpoint security, MDR, patching, and sign-in protection come with fully managed IT.

Automation for routine work

Patching, setup, and common fixes run automatically, so engineers spend time on real problems.

Escalation that goes up

From your engineer to a senior engineer to our CEO, with no account-management layer.

On site from Waltham

Remote first for speed, and at your door across Greater Boston when it needs hands.

Independent

What being independent means for you.

  • Decisions about your service are made here in Waltham, by people who know your account.
  • Our leadership is reachable. Escalations can go straight to the CEO.
  • We are not a franchise and not part of a national roll-up, so there is no change of owner waiting to change your service.
  • We are part of The Cyber Harbor Group with our sister company SWFIT, which serves Southwest Florida.

Who runs BMIT

Led by an engineer, not a sales team.

Nick Salem founded BMIT after watching small businesses get oversold by IT providers who were slow to answer and quick to invoice. His fix: a lean senior team, a phone that gets picked up, and technology doing the repetitive work. Clients regularly get Nick on the phone, and he likes it that way.

  • 15+ years in IT, still hands-on with client environments
  • Former Director of IT at a nonprofit with a $20 million budget and 500+ employees
  • Leadership roles at several technology startups
  • Designed and built BMIT’s internal platform, including its AI-driven monitoring and automation
  • Runs BMIT’s internal AI infrastructure for workflows where direct control matters, alongside governed cloud services
  • Leads BMIT, SWFIT, and The Cyber Harbor Group

Nicholas Salem

Chief Executive Officer

Nick Salem is the CEO of BMIT, and the reason the company works the way it does. He started it because he kept watching small businesses get oversold by IT providers who were slow to answer and quick to invoice. His fix was a lean team, a phone that gets picked up, and technology doing the repetitive work so people can focus on the problems that matter.

Nick has more than 15 years in IT. Before running his own firm, he was Director of IT at a nonprofit with a $20 million annual budget and more than 500 employees, where he led the team that kept the whole organization running. Earlier, he held leadership roles at several technology startups, which is where he picked up his habit of building things himself when the off-the-shelf version isn’t good enough.

That habit shows. Nick designed and built much of the company’s internal platform, including the AI-driven monitoring and automation behind our service. He runs our internal AI infrastructure for workflows where keeping processing under our direct control matters, alongside carefully governed cloud services. He leads BMIT in Boston, SWFIT on Florida’s Gulf Coast, and The Cyber Harbor Group, which brings the two together.

He’s still hands-on. Clients regularly get Nick on the phone, and he likes it that way. In his view, the CEO of an IT company should still be able to fix your problem.

Elena Salem

Service Delivery Manager

Elena Salem is the Service Delivery Manager at BMIT, which means she makes sure what we promise is what actually happens. She runs the support operation day to day: which tickets are moving, who’s working on what, which projects come next, and whether each client is getting the response time they’re paying for.

She has more than 10 years in IT and project management, starting with hands-on troubleshooting and moving into team leadership and client relationship work. That background helps. When a ticket is stuck, Elena understands the technical problem well enough to know whether it needs more time, a different technician, or a call to the client.

Elena also owns much of the operations side of the business, including licensing, billing and the systems that keep both accurate. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and the CompTIA Network+ certification.

Her team knows her for clear communication and for never losing track of a detail. Outside of work, she spends time with family and friends, travels, and heads outdoors to hike and bike whenever she can.

Daniel Ostrowski

L3 Service Delivery Technician

Daniel Ostrowski is an L3 Service Delivery Technician at BMIT. When an issue is too complex for a first pass, it goes to Daniel. He handles escalations, new client onboarding, hardware rollouts and infrastructure projects, often for clients in regulated industries where the work has to be done right the first time.

His path into IT wasn’t the usual one. Daniel grew up in Michigan and earned a marketing degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. He’d been taking computers apart since he was a kid, and during the COVID pandemic he decided to make his hobby his career. The marketing background turned out to help: he’s good at explaining technical problems to people who just want their computer to work.

Daniel also builds automation tools for our help desk that cut down on repetitive work, so clients get faster answers.

He lives in Boston with his dog, Znuni, and is usually the one on site when a problem needs hands on hardware. On his days off he’s hiking or working through the city’s restaurant scene.

Nicole Cormier

Web Designer

Nicole Cormier is the web designer at BMIT. For a lot of small businesses, the website is the first thing a new customer sees, and Nicole makes sure it’s worth seeing. She works with clients to understand their brand, their customers and their goals, then designs and builds sites that look sharp and are easy to use.

She has more than 15 years of design experience and holds a Certificate in Graphic Design. Her background spans UX design and front-end development, so she thinks about how a site works as much as how it looks. Most of her builds are on WordPress and Shopify, and she works daily in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and CSS.

Clients appreciate that she listens first. Nicole would rather ask a few more questions up front than redesign a page three times later. She keeps up with design trends but doesn’t chase them, because a site should still look right in five years.

Outside of work, she travels, follows new art and design, and spends time with family and friends.
