Why BMIT Has Decided to Leave Twitter

BMIT is a leading managed IT service provider that helps businesses grow smarter through strategic technology. We have been using Twitter as one of our social media platforms to connect with our customers, partners, and industry peers. However, we have recently decided to leave Twitter and focus on other communication channels. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • Twitter has become increasingly toxic and divisive. We value civil and respectful dialogue, but we have witnessed too many instances of harassment, abuse, misinformation, and hate speech on Twitter. These are not aligned with our core values and mission.
  • Twitter has failed to protect its users’ privacy and security. We take data protection very seriously, but we have seen numerous reports of data breaches, hacks, leaks, and unauthorized access on Twitter. These pose significant risks to our customers and our own confidential information.
  • Twitter has not delivered on its promises of engagement and reach. We have invested time and resources to create quality content and interact with our followers, but we have seen little return on our efforts. Twitter’s algorithms and policies have limited our visibility and reach, making it harder for us to connect with our target audience.

We believe there are better ways to communicate with our stakeholders and share our insights and expertise. That’s why we have decided to leave Twitter and focus on other platforms, such as:

We hope you will continue to follow us on these channels and stay updated on our latest news, offers, and events. We also welcome your feedback and suggestions on improving our communication and service. You can contact us anytime at https://www.bostonmit.com/contact/.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Update — March 31, 2026: We’re Back on X

Yes, we see the irony.

In 2023, we walked away from Twitter over toxicity, privacy concerns, and poor engagement. Everything we said above still stands — our position on those issues hasn’t changed one bit.

So why are we back?

Because X has become a major channel for AI-driven search and SEO. Tools like Grok, ChatGPT, and Perplexity actively pull from X when answering questions about companies, services, and industries. If we’re not there, we’re invisible to a growing share of how people find information online.

We’d rather be hypocrites with a functioning business than principled and invisible. The reality is that for a company our size, sitting out on a platform that directly influences AI search results is a competitive disadvantage we can no longer justify.

Our approach this time:

  • We’re using X strictly as a business channel — sharing our content, engaging with the MSP and IT community, and making sure our expertise shows up where AI tools are looking.
  • We’re not here to doomscroll or argue. We’re here because the search landscape changed and we need to be where the answers are sourced from.
  • Our other channels (website, blog, LinkedIn, newsletter) remain our primary communication platforms.

Sometimes the pragmatic move is the right one, even when it feels contradictory. We’d rather be honest about why we’re back than pretend we never left.
